The Master of the Living Dead
I wasn't always the leader of an army of the evil undead.
Once I was just a small town American boy.
Little old ladies spoke well of me. Town leaders liked me, often holding me up as a model for everything still right about modern youth. I had a knack for good deeds. Getting things done. Minding my own business. Never getting into any trouble. Well, not that anyone knew. Secretly I had began experimenting with the Dark Arts since about the age of 11. Studying from the past masters of Mad Science. Learning enough dreaded Things Man Was Not Meant To Know to make Lovecraft proud. Sane enough to function yet insane enough to stare into the abyss and pull out of it new kinds of thoughts or seemingly revolutionary paradigm breakthroughs. Did I mention I was smart? Or so I thought. Looking back, if I were truly smart, I would have never messed with anything evenly remotely resembling Ancient Evil.
Too late now. For tonight I have successfully performed the Rite of Xyggthausoth. And so the prophecy will be fulfilled. Tomorrow the dead will rise from all the cemeteries in all the world. And in a year from now I predict the entire planet will be overrun with them. They will all come to me, and kneel down before me, and pledge their literally undying loyalty to me, and only me, as their Master. The Master of the Living Dead. All the living shall fear me and flee. The rational will let themselves die quickly. The more ambitious will take longer to root out, but it is beyond doubt they will eventually succumb as well. For my armies are multitudes. And they cannot ever die or be defeated. I am the Master of the Living Dead. And I will be the last ruler of mankind. The last they will ever need.
